Actually this is my very first "serious" attempt for an actual peanut. So far the fuselage is under construction and seems to go the right direction.....
Here is a first one....
...
..
Very nice Spirost.
All seems to be running very smoothly from my end
Many thanks!! Hope it will end up straight and light!
>...straight and light...
Φαινεται ευθύς* απ' εδω. :)

OK, back to English 'cos this is HPA.gr not aeromodelling.gr. Looks good Σπιρο. It's a well known fact that all the best aeromodellers work on the dining or living room table. Well..., all the best aeromodellers and me. :)
Lurk
*Dim question, but would αληθειος or even ενταξι be appropriate here? They were the first (only) adjectives that I could think of without resorting to a dictionary that might apply, but just because we use "true" & "OK" that way in English...
True is Αλήθεια and ok is εντάξει!!.
Your Greek is excellent!
ΣπιροςΤ> Your Greek is ...
...passable when written and I have enough time to think about what I'm trying to say, but thank you for the compliment. Spoken is another matter entirely. Want a meal in a ταβερνα? No problem and you won't starve, but a fluent adult conversation? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Ask Γιώργο. :)
Back on topic. You were saying that this is your first "proper" peanut. I know a lot of people think they're ugly, but the Peck Lacey M-10 makes a good first peanut scale model. They're best when built with 1/20" (1.2/1.3 mm) wood but you can build them with 1/16" (1.6mm) wood if you choose it carefully and still get a good performance out of them. An idea for your second peanut perhaps?
Tavern and tsipouro....... ;D
That's my style......
Back to the topic.
I already made one BD4, with which I participated in IIFI 2025 as I'm really new to this. Therefore, I do not consider it as proper one, and as well said by George, "Once we are back in Greece, you only fly it there".
Since I admire Jodel, I wanted to go for the Baby. And although I do complain alot, it has a good progress. Of course, many tecnhiques are new to me, so I'm a bit hesitant on every step.
There is a small progress on the construction.
Part of the fuselage is almost ready.
I initially started with the scale rudder and stab but will also make the larger version for better flying characteristics. Eventually I will have to make a choice but so far, I think it's safer to make both versions.
Nice work Spiros - that's a neat rolled balsa turtle deck.
John
Thank you!
I can tell you, this is my very first time doing this, but followed the instructions of George Kandylakis and everything worked out!
For the record, the balsa used is 0,4mm
Some progress made with the firewall and getting ready for the front cover... I assume that by end of the week, the fuselage will be ready for covering.
The cowl appearing is from the Citabria. My very first time, making an adjustable thrust........ If it works, I will try to do it also on the Jodel
Fuselage 99% ready. 1,5gr.
Time to check the wing...... Some first positioning, to see if it all match....
Decided to go for the scale version of the wing......
Main spar has been placed and time for the dihedral! So far seems ok..... Waiting for the glue to dry and check if the measurements are correct....
Another important task now, is to find the most convenient color scheme.
Lars proposed the most beautiful color scheme of all (the Swiss Jodel), however, I'm not sure if I'm able to source out the correct tissue for such!
While searching, I found this webiste, dedicated to Bebe Jodel and there are plenty of information for the plane. Maybe it would be interesting for some people.
https://bebejodel.wordpress.com/les-membres/
After finishing both dihedrals, it now looks more like a plane...... Many details are missng from the wing (it's still ongoing process) but still, now it looks better!
I would need some help on the coloring of the Jodel.
Here is the color scheme I would like to make.
The dark green is ok, however I cannot understand if the second color is creme or very light green.
I cannot understand from the pic so any help is highly appreciated.
Beautiful work Spiros!

I loaded several photos of the HB-SAE into Photoshop and looked at the yellow color:
I can't give an exact color code because the lighting and such varies between the photos.
But I think you can conclude that it really is a yellow color, not light green.
Cheers, Ramses
Hi Spiros,
I found the aeroclub the Jodel HB-SAE is stationed.
I asked the aeroclub for the Jodel colors, their awnser:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our Bébé Jodel! A bit of history : while restoring her in the late nineties, we had to decide on her paint scheme. Original Jodels D9 (including the prototype) where usually painted white with a colour stripe, which would make for a rather modern look. We decided against this and chose to give her a more vintage look instead. We organised a little competition among our restoration team and the green and cream paint scheme was eventually selected.
We used DuPont Imron automotive paint. The green colour is RAL 6001 emerald green, which reminded us of the English race cars of the time. The second colour was meant to be cream white, but I wasn't able to find a nice Imron RAL colour, so in the end I tried to create our own with basic paint mixing. The first try was equal quantities of white and yellow. The result was too yellowish obviously, but when put side by side with the green, it seemed a perfect match (the yellow paint had a tad of green in it), so we kept it eventually.
I could try to find the RAL references for the white and yellow, but with a different make of paint, you'd probably end up with a different result. I'll get a paint chart and try to find the exact colour as soon as possible and send you the result.
With all my best regards
Yves Piotet
And a next email:
I made a mistake about the green, it's RAL 6002 actually.
Im trying to have the yellow analysed, I'll come back to you later.
Yves Piotet
I let you know when i have awnser on the yellow color!
Cheers, Ramses
and this is how to properly document a model...
and how international help among aeromodellers works...
George
Dear Ramses,
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Your help is really valuable!!!
Now the best part of all....... I have to talk to George about the color outcome..... ;D
Just a small view of the Jodel, getting ready for dopping and then spraying.
Thanks to Ramses, I will be able to go as close as possible to the original colors!
Great research on the colors, should make an outstanding model.
Ramses did an excellent job with finding the colors.
I really hope the model comes out nice.
So far and after final doping, surfaces are really good.
Overall weight before brushing is 5.9gr (incl. dummy engine and adjustable thrust)
......so.... after a long time, the painting job is almost done.
The basic frame is airbrushed. As this was my very first time airbrushing, I have to say that it was not easy for me. Especially the masking phase.
However, I cannot complain. George Kandylakis was behing my back giving instructions on every step.
Next phase is the registration numbers, engine, and various other details. Hopefully, it will be ready on time for IIFI 2026!!
Looks good Σπύρο.
Thank you!!!🙏
Nice job, it seems a good match to the original.
Thank you. Tried to go as close as possible to the original.
Lovely work, Spiros. I've always liked that Swiss scheme too.
Thank you Pete.
I really hope it brings up nicely at the end.
So far so good!
.....and eventually, the wing got the registration.....
Not very good but on an acceptable level I guess.
Little by Little everyday, an instrument panel pops up!!
Next step windshield
Overall, I'm also statisfied with the weight of the model.
So far, Fuselage 2.8gr (probably 3.1 at the end) and 3.1gr wing completed.
I hope it will be below 10gr. At least this is my target
Do like the instrument panel. How did you do it?
It was printed in photographic paper and glued in place.
I have to say that thanks to Ramses, I contacted the owner of the airplane, who sent me lots of pictures with lots of details, including the one of the instrument panel.
So the instrument panel is from the orginal airplane.... ;D
So far model is on 7,2gr included the nose block with the adjustable thrust
An extra 1gr for the Wheels and engine details and then the only missing is prop and balancing weight.
......finally, it's almost ready.
The model is balanced and has a total weight of 10,3gr without the rubber.
There are some scale details missing but I think these will not affect the weight.
Already had a test glide in the garden and it glides very well.
Very neat.
Beautiful Jodel, Spiros!!
Good luck with the test flights!
Happy landings,
Cheers, Ramses
Thank you and thank you so much for your help in finding the colors!!
+2. Like your instrument panel and wind screenj
John
Thank you.
Instrument panel was printed in scale from the original one.
NICE job, Spiros. Beautiful model. I'm going to have to try another peanut. First attempt, I broke more wood than I glued together.
You do excellent work!
Thank you!
That was actually my second peanut.
Thatbisna lovely model! Thanks for sharing.
