Title: TROUBLE WITH UPLOADING INTO PLAN GALLERY
Post by: OZPAF on Feb 07, 2026, 06:00 AM
I have been stopped on uploading dwgs into the plan gallery. After many failed attempts to enter the check box letters/nos.

Is it really necessary to have check boxes for every plan/dwg upload?

regards

John

Hi John,

I just checked the settings and I cannot find an option about switching this security off for uploading.

Maybe I am missing something but I cannot offer something better for now.

The only thing I can suggest is maybe ask for another set of letters/numbers until you are confident you can get it right.

Can you give it another try please?

Interestingly I can't even get onto the plans gallery - tells me I specified an incorrect username or password.  Except they are correct.  Any ideas?

Hi John,

for a moment you had me worried there. But then I checked.

It is rather simple really, you never registered for the plans gallery. There is no SP250 among the members. And I certainly did not delete anyone.

The forum and the plans gallery are two different software, requiring separate registration process for each.

It used to be a prerequisite that in order to sign up to the plans gallery one had to be a member of the forum as well. I automated the process and this is no longer necessary. Those who want the gallery only can register to the gallery, regardless of the forum.

So please try registering first and see if it goes.

Thanks George.

I missed the error messages and it seems likely that the A4 pdfs are too large - too many pixels, in height and width.

I'm not sure how these plans can be loaded so will currently forward pdf's on personal request.

Hi John,

I have set a very high limit for the file size due to the magazines being uploaded, so this cannot be the reason.

Try uploading something simple first, I can delete it afterwards.

Worst case, send me the files and I can upload them on your behalf.

In that case I will send you my email address per pm

Thanks again George. I'll do that - I'm sure it's some simple error I'm making.

Sorry if I missed this elsewhere, another question about uploading plans: is there a way to "lump" plans together, e.g. if there is an article attached? Or if not, would it be preferred to append everything into a multi-page PDF, or upload separately with similar names?

Thanks,

preferably a single PDF file.

Alternative, two different files with each other names in the descriptions, so that if one tries to download the plan he will see there is an article as well.

But better one file, to be sure.

Create a zip file that contains all the files you want to upload; each sheet of the plan, build notes etc. and upload that.

If you're using Windows you can do this directly from the File Explorer window (Windows 7 onwards I think) or you can install 7-Zip which is a good free file compressor, https://www.7-zip.org/ and which is available for older versions of Windows as well.

All distributions of Linux have command line zip & unzip utilities and most have a desktop interface, Mint for example has Thunar.

Macs, bless 'em, have their own way of doing things.

Quite a nice summary here...  https://copyrightservice.co.uk/reg/creating-zip-files

Thanks for the advice, g_kandylakis and Lurker. Running a Windows computer here, and was able to create Zip files without any trouble.

It seems that I have finally uploaded the files (Outdoor Glider - Sparrow) and in the process doubled up on one of them. How do I remove an unnecessary duplicate?

As per your advice to sandfac - loading all the separate files as pages of one pdf or zip file is the way to go!

Just as a PSA (if you don't recognise the TLA it stands for Public Service Announcement), I have noticed that sometimes the upload doesn't work and you get your entry page back.  What makes it a bit of a trap is that when that happens the images you selected to upload may have been deleted from your entry page.  So before you go back to the verification, just check that your content has not been stripped by the failed upload and re-choose it, if needed.  Understandably, the programme fails an upload that has no attached content if you don't do that.

For me the verification code is annoying.
It is undoubtedly useful, it is a security,  but its visual interpretation is very tricky and it is very easy to make mistakes.
Sometimes I even need 4 attempts before displaying a code that is easily interpretable by my sight. It seems (I repeat, it seems) that the server checks the code after receiving the files and, if not correct, at this point it asks for a new verification code by resubmitting the upload form, blank.
By clicking back on the browser I get back all the data previously entered and I don't need to write them again.

I cycle through the images until I get a code on a yellow(ish) background.  They seem to be the most legible. The ones on the purple(ish) background utterly defeat my eyes.

Some patience please, it is being looked into and should be easy to remove the Captcha image for uploading...

I'm happy with the captcha, it's just my eyes that aren't but I can work around my duff eyesight - carry on until I get a legible image - and I'd rather we had something to reduce the risk of bots trying to upload stuff than not.

I too cycle through the chapta until I see one that is probably acceptable.
But, ADMIN, do no remove the chapta at all!!!
Do you rememeber the bombing to HipPocket?
Maybe another kind of chapta should be more comfortable.

Quotewhoch ones do you want to keep and which ones to delete?

If you keep the first 3 uploads - then delete the second 3, that will be appreciated. Thanks George - I'll upload all the dwgs in a single pdf or zip in the future, as advised.

Hi George. I'm coming to the realisation that the Plans Gallery doesn't like me. I uploaded 2 plans, both labelled "XSticksy 300" - a layout and full size templates. On checking today - there is actually nothing there.

I suspect that it is a problem for me anyway, with the URL address of the inserted file, as the field for the URL address does not automatically show when the file is selected in the field above. I think I typed in the URL for my previous plan (Sparrow) but find this to be a pain, but will do it if necessary.

I'm still running on Win10 and this may also be causing issues.

Thus as there is nothing there - it is probably best to delete these 2 entries in "Free Flight/Outdoor Rubber Power Sport/XSticksy 300"

Sorry to be a nuisance.

John

Hi John,

please have a look at this and try again.

https://hpa.aeromodelling.gr/index.php?topic=242.0

I just deleted the original uploads.

Windows should have nothing to do with it.

Do not use the "URL" option but the "Navigate" one when choosing the files.

Let me know how it goes...

Thanks for all the patient help George. It appears that it has been successful, after just checking the latest effort.

Verification doesn't seem to work at all. I have no real problem deciphering the thing - or is it case sensitive?

Found my problem.  My thumbnail was a bit too large and I overlooked the control panel message (senior moment...).
