Title: Micro-X J3 Cub Plans
Post by: bcarter1234 on Feb 28, 2026, 02:58 AM
I pulled my old Micro-X J3 out of a box today and it flew well even though it hadn't been touched for about 5 or 6 years. Prior to that is had sat in a box for about 10 years. It is such a reliable performer it seems like I should build another if anyone has plans.

Thanks for reading.

There are Micro-X plans for a 25 inch PA-16 and a 22 inch Taylorcraft on Outerzone.  Not a J3, though. I'd be surprised if the PA-16 wasn't a slightly better flyer, all else being equal.

Years ago, John Koptonak organized an event in Norwich, CT had for the Herr 18 inch walnut kits, built fairly stock. As I recall, John Koptonak's Tri Pacer, a close relative of the PA-16 was the best flyer. I think there were at least one J3 and one Taylorcraft, my Cessna, and probably a few others. Some of the others flew ok, though.

Hi Brent,

I imagine this is what you are looking for...

There are so many plans to upload, it is impossible to do them all at once...

So, just like you did, if there are any requests, just post and I will search in the files Garry and others have sent me to restore to the plans gallery.

George,

Thanks for the very speed service. This is what I was looking for.

I read last night that they did an indoor version of the kit with built up prop and and an outdoor version with a plastic prop. I think someone also mentioned they did a larger version.

That must be a peanut version. I have their peanut Vagabond kit.
