Here's a link to a tv program on YouTube which is mainly Frank Hurley's film of his 1921 trip to Papua.

This film, called "Pearls and Savages" is mentioned in CH Barnes book on Shorts Aircraft - the air-related study starts at about 12:30 of the video. One of the planes is the Short Sporting floatplane that Shorts sold to Mr Hordern of Sydney. What is the seaplane?
Oh how are attitudes to "collecting" have changed in 100 years.
From the momentary and blurry seaplane bit I saw, I couldn't make it out, and didn't replay it. Seemed to have square wingtips . . . Avro Avian?
Stephen.
Hi Stephen,
I think that the one on floats is the Short. I was wanting to identify the flying boat
My fault for using the wrong terms.
