Great minds think alike.  Two of my favourite types.

Just out of interest.  What weight is your Ryan and what motor do you use outdoors?

great planes both of them..my Ryan M-1 is heavy..weights 44 grams..it was my first kit after years and my first model with shrinking dope..so i wasnt so carefull...but it flies..i started with 3,8 rubber..and after some low trimming flights i used 4mm rubber.
Iam learning slowly..the world of free flight is wonderfull!

I was lucky with mine at least as far as timing. A couple of the blokes at Trinity had built the kit before me, so I knew before I started on mine that it needed to go on a strict diet!  Mine's flying at a fraction under 34g but it too needs a loop of 0.16" (4mm).
