Back on either the original HPA just before it closed or just after the next one opened, I asked a question about an old magazine article & plan I was trying to remember. I described the design, a simple control-liner and was sure I saw it in Model Airplane News back in the late 60s. No one recognized it at the time. A couple of years ago, another local modeler, Chris S. gifted me his magazine collection. I've been going through it as time allows. There are many different titles in the collection including American Modeler. I was perusing the October 1966 issue and there it was. The article and design I'd described. Not only did I recognize the design, but I even remembered the photo of the 2 boys starting the engine of the model. The model is called the Penny Pincher. I was dead certain I had seen it in M.A.N., which just goes to show the tricks memory will play on you. Nonetheless, it's great to have the question answered.
It's good top see another old HPA member here Bargle.
That's an interesting article - back when there was so much enthusiasm. It was around eh late 60's that I started to enjoy my new wealth (first job) and had access to a great news agency with all the latest mags.
The enthusiasm in the article brings back many memories.
