Title: UK Indoor Flying Sites
Post by: TheLurker on Jun 04, 2026, 05:42 PM
SItes Map (https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1K3J6tfN_fTMj-LDAH-BUpJfoAy4FUg0&usp=sharing)

As set up by Yak52 (Jon Whitmore, PMFC) set up on HPA II.

It may be out of date as he hasn't had the time to maintain it this last year, but it's still a good starting point.

If you know of new sites, or amendments that need to be made to those already listed please add a reply to this thread.

Hi Lurk

Sadly the Shropshire Indoor Modellers Club who used to run at RAF Shawbury is now no longer.  The DIO (Defence Infrastructure organisation) who run the site on behalf of the RAF accepted a 4 year contract for exclusive hangar use from British Cycling.  They built a BMX practice track taking up the whole of the flying area except for the 5 a side football pitch.  There are 7 external clubs including the local football club who cannot now use the facility because Cycling are funded by lottery money and the rest of us cannot compete with £7500 per month rental paid.  So football, boxing, tennis, badminton, cricket, basketball and model flyers are now excluded.
I helped set up a new group, which grew out of the ashes, called the Midlands Indoor Flyers and they now run the Chasetown indoor venues (there are two) and Daventry (which has just been cancelled)!  But also a venue at Whitchurch, Shropshire in the town market hall. I will flag this thread up to Pete Thompson and Andy Beere who are the chair and secretary of the new club so they can pinpoint the venues for your map.  Please don't forget to remove the pin for Shawbury.
