And here is something from the past...
I like to think that many of us have some models that were truly flops in one way or another.
Mine is the Avro F monoplane, built around 2012-2013, documented initially in SFA and then in HPA.
A labor of love in terms of construction and attention to detail and a complete failur when it came to flying. Never managed to trim it properly, mainly perhaps because I never bothered to do the work involved. Something must have been fundamentaly wrong to begin with, I suspect wings warped that prevented a proper turn. And other factors as well.
Before this year's BMFA indoor nationals I decided to take it along to give it another try. Upon taking it out of the box to check I was shocked to discover it had a broken tail and fuselage. I did remember droping the box one time but did not notice any damage then. So I quickly close the box and put it aside, flying my Moth Major peanut instead in Open Rubber. It did unexpectedly well getting 3rd place.
With November IIFI in Holland approaching, I decided to repair it and give it another go, so here a much shorter "repair thread" on that. There is also a parallel build going one, that will get its' own thread.
The damage was on the horizontal tail and the rear fuselage where the stab attaches. I also wanted to straighten and strengthen the wings, so this meant removing all the covering from everywhere. It would be impossible to match the paint color of 2013 today.
So, I am now in the process of recovering.
This time I elected to leave the outer wood surfaces unpainted as they will be painted over anyway. Hope it does not show through, it did not in the previous state.

It is good to see you repair this lovely model. What are you covering the delicate structure with?

The structure may look delicate, being scale in cross sections but it is of basswood, so does have some extra strength.
The covering is pre-shrunk esaki.
Lurk, today we had 35 degrees outside, yesterday 38. It cools down in the evening thankfully. I knew I should have cropped that pic, saw it too late.
