where to start...

It was the beginning of 2020, Covid and all the limitations were in our ruined everyday life.

Long hours at home, the computer was one of the few escape ways. Walt Mooney cook-up underway, chose to go with a CO2 motor.

And then I thought I d' search in facebook to see if there is a dedicated group there. A page did come up but not a group, which seemed strange. So, I set up a new group with the sole object as described in the title "CO2 motors form model aeroplanes".

Well, this group is now over 5.000 members strong, although clearly only a small percentage of them are aeromodellers ot knowledgable about CO2 motors.

Anyway, over time a lot of information was uploaded there in the form of articles from old magazines. I intend to repeat that here, since,
a) not everyone is or wants to be on facebook
b) it is not as easy to find as it is rather unstructured.

So, another long term project, but you got to start from somewhere...

First up, the CO2 motor list.

An attempt to write down all of the commercially available CO2 motors over time, giving some important statistics, such as size, year, spare parts etc.

By no means full but a good starting point. Open of course to additions and corrections.

Th PDF file is larger than the alllowable size, as are the captured images, so they appear in 3 parts.

Last update was 2020, not that there have been a lot of changes since then

This is a great resource I often turn to, thanks for posting it here

There are some additional data here. The list dated 2024 came with a motor I bought new in 2024 direct from Gasparin in the Czech republic. The other came with a pre-owned motor so I don't know it's origin or date.

I don't know if the motor weight data includes tank, prop, etc. I have found fairly wide differences between the motor weights quoted on the older list and motors I've weighed in front of me. I believe I erased that data before copying the paper but it was certainly more than a percent or two, perhaps 10-15% iirc. It is perhaps due to tank size changes over time, or prop material (wood/plastic)? How have others found this?
