Greetings,

The other day I was flying my Benny Box and was aproached (invited) to participate in an upcoming SAM 25 contest (Society of Antique Modelers).

At the time I was thinking of entering my 2x Sparky geared Speed 400 model.
Having now read the rules (Section X) it looks like only direct drive Speed 400 motors are allowed (Section X, 4). My Sparky in not a model of a gas powered  Old Timer  and is sporting a 5.9:1 geardrive.

I did see another class of model that has peaked my interest, that is "The Spirit of SAM" (Section X, 4).

Anybody have any insight as to the equipement currently used in this class. I have an old Comet Phantom Fury kit that I cut the part sfree from the printed sheets (these were a kin closer to oak than balsa) that I'm thinking of building to these spec's.

Cut it twice and it was still too short!
