One day I'll get back to building my own aeroplanes but in the meantime I spent the afternoon making up 'kits' for the latest OMFC winter build challenge - Small Smeeds. Any Vic Smeed design reduced to peanut 13" span and rubber powered

Still 28 x plan , instructions Wall Foam and prop assembly done :-)

Building a new fuselage for my latest P-30. I made the first one taper too much and couldn't get a motor in to where the peg needed to be. I located the peg too far forward at first and that left a bunch of slack flopping around in the fuselage, so I'm building a new one rather than cutting the first apart and rebuilding.

Celluloid* panels for Olive's struts ready for Saturday's Trinity.  I was hoping I'd get away with scale dihedral for indoor only use, but last session seemed to confirm that I won't. Oh well, I knew it was a risk when I started building it.


*S'ackcherlee whatever they used to put individual birthday and other cards in. Very lightweight & makes good flat windscreen film for small indoor models. They seem to have stopped selling cards with it in the last two or three years as it can't be recycled, but I have a small hoard.

I had a bit of time this afternoon to play with this new addition to my engine collection. Well it's not really a collection as in the glass cabinet sense more boxes in the workshop as I hope to fly them all though I have't quite managed that yet.

This lovely little engine is a miniature replica of the 2cc Dyno made in 1941 by Swiss engineer Jacob Klemenz-Schenk . It was the first commercially successful diesel engine spawning numerous copies around the world. While not being particularly powerful it turns a 7x4 nicely and I hope to build  a suitable reduced size period design that can show off the engine for it to fly in. Cloud Elf, Quaker Flash, Red Zephyr, another Skyscraper .....I'm really not sure yet but this little gem deserves something
