Time to check the wing...... Some first positioning, to see if it all match....

Decided to go for the scale version of the wing......

Spiros

Main spar has been placed and time for the dihedral! So far seems ok..... Waiting for the glue to dry and check if the measurements are correct....

Spiros

Another important task now, is to find the most convenient color scheme.

Lars proposed the most beautiful color scheme of all (the Swiss Jodel), however, I'm not sure if I'm able to source out the correct tissue for such!

While searching, I found this webiste, dedicated to Bebe Jodel and there are plenty of information for the plane. Maybe it would be interesting for some people.

After finishing both dihedrals, it now looks more like a plane...... Many details are missng from the wing (it's still ongoing process) but still, now it looks better!

I would need some help on the coloring of the Jodel.

Here is the color scheme I would like to make.

The dark green is ok, however I cannot understand if the second color is creme or very light green.

I cannot understand from the pic so any help is highly appreciated.

I loaded several photos of the HB-SAE into Photoshop and looked at the yellow color:

I can't give an exact color code because the lighting and such varies between the photos.
But I think you can conclude that it really is a yellow color, not light green.

Hi Spiros,

I found the aeroclub the Jodel HB-SAE is stationed.
I asked the aeroclub for the Jodel colors, their awnser:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in our Bébé Jodel! A bit of history : while restoring her in the late nineties, we had to decide on her paint scheme. Original Jodels D9 (including the prototype) where usually painted white with a colour stripe, which would make for a rather modern look. We decided against this and chose to give her a more vintage look instead. We organised a little competition among our restoration team and the green and cream paint scheme was eventually selected.

We used DuPont Imron automotive paint. The green colour is RAL 6001 emerald green, which reminded us of the English race cars of the time. The second colour was meant to be cream white, but I wasn't able to find a nice Imron RAL colour, so in the end I tried to create our own with basic paint mixing. The first try was equal quantities of white and yellow. The result was too yellowish obviously, but when put side by side with the green, it seemed a perfect match (the yellow paint had a tad of green in it), so we kept it eventually.

I could try to find the RAL references for the white and yellow, but with a different make of paint, you'd probably end up with a different result. I'll get a paint chart and try to find the exact colour as soon as possible and send you the result.

With all my best regards

Yves Piotet

And a next email:

I made a mistake about the green, it's RAL 6002 actually.

Im trying to have the yellow analysed, I'll come back to you later.

I let you know when i have awnser on the yellow color!

Cheers, Ramses

and this is how to properly document a model...

and how international help among aeromodellers works...

Dear Ramses,

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Your help is really valuable!!!

Now the best part of all....... I have to talk to George about the color outcome..... ;D

Spiros

Just a small view of the Jodel, getting ready for dopping and then spraying.

Thanks to Ramses, I will be able to go as close as possible to the original colors!

dputt7

Great research on the colors, should make an outstanding model.

Spiros

Ramses did an excellent job with finding the colors.

I really hope the model comes out nice.

So far and after final doping, surfaces are really good.

Overall weight before brushing is 5.9gr (incl. dummy engine and adjustable thrust)

Spiros

......so.... after a long time, the painting job is almost done.

The basic frame is airbrushed. As this was my very first time airbrushing, I have to say that it was not easy for me. Especially the masking phase.

However, I cannot complain. George Kandylakis was behing my back giving instructions on every step.

Next phase is the registration numbers, engine, and various other details. Hopefully, it will be ready on time for IIFI 2026!!
