Reduced size Korker

I picked up an inexpensive electric motor and prop from Banggood after after seeing a 16" span model flown with that motor, and it went up like a rocket. Bill Walton, the designer, suggested that it can power a larger model. I selected the Korker designed by Keith Storey and Ken Willard in 1951. It was intended for 1/4 to 1/2 A engines with a wing span of 35". I reduced it to 20' wing span. Banggood "Gearbox  0720 coreless motor cw and prop" and is on sale for $2.81. The circuit board is from Luke Napier, with motor run set by choosing a resister. The battery is 80mah.

Does it fly? Yes, and now that I got it out of a tree it will fly again.

I bought several of those Banggood motors as well.  I was thinking of doing some RC conversions.  Two things that troubled me.  One is assembly the plastic mount for the motor is extremely tight.  I am guessing I need to heat it up to get the motor in.  The other is I don't like that the prop shaft is so short that the large gear it really far forward.  I was thinking of replacing the shaft with a longer one.  That would allow me to "hide" the gear when installed.  I have a commercial foam plane that did just that with a virtually identical motor.  They also used a larger prop.  Anyway I'm excited to see how your Korker flies.  Nice looking build.
