These notes
This is a transcription of Peter's hand drawn original which he kindly gave me a scanned copy of in early 2020 after I'd seen his model flying at Newbury. It has a few layout changes to fit it on an A3 sheet and remove the need for tiling of photocopies but that’s all.
This version of the plan was published in AeroModeller (Feb. '24). Permission was given for the plan to be hosted in Trinity's plan gallery without the article text. An experienced builder is unlikely to need build notes.
For those that don't already know, Peter's model won the Indoor Glider class at the 2014 UK Nats. Mike Stuart filmed it, https://youtu.be/Ftlx3UJ3BWw, and included a photograph of it in his report on the 2014 indoor scale classes which can be found at http://www.ffscale.co.uk/page3ab.htm
The plan shows the yellow scheme of the first, the Yellow Wren, but there were several, perhaps as many as a dozen, built from plans including the White Wren, Blue Wren (Mr. Manuel's second) and the Australian Wren, so there's room to play. However it is worth knowing that no two Wrens were exactly alike and the commonest modification on later aircraft was a gap or a clear panel in the LE above the cockpit to improve visibility. |
