JIKAH 2M GLIDER

JIKAH 2M GLIDER
Description: RC glider of 2M wingspan of conventional balsa construction. I designed it to be strong enough for moderate winch launches and the prototype flew in competitions for many years.

It was originally designed as a second model for glider flyers, and is of 2 function rudder and elevator control.
Keywords: RADIO CONTROL, 2M GLIDER, BALSA CONSTRUCTION WITH STRONG WINGS

EXTRA INFO

Just a few points.

The wing joiner rod needs a very sharp bend or the addition of a 1/2" balsa centre rib with an oversize hole to allow for a larger radius bend.

Rudder and elevator horns not shown - allow for around 15deg up/down on elevator and min of 30deg right/left on the rudder and use horn lengths to match full throw of servos.

Joiner

It might be better to use a straight joiner and mount the tubes at an angle instead, as seen on many other models. Especially if you're ever going to have to replace the joiner rod. Many designs are done like this. If memory serves, these include the Sagittas and the Allegro Lite. For those working in imperial units, a 7/32" rod is pretty good for a 2 meter glider of construction similar to this one.

If I was building one, I might start with 10° or 12° of elevator throw, rather than 15° YMMV
