      <description><![CDATA[Although this model is not as sleek looking as the original Sleek Streak, you can make 3 sets of wing panels with one sheet of 1/32&quot; by 2&quot; by 36&quot; balsa wood.

The plastic wing joiner is available from Volare Products. If you cut out all the parts as a kit, you can build this model in under an hour.

You can slightly warp the rudder's trailing edge and bend the nylon plastic prop nose bearing to provide the desired turn radius. You may also need to warp the outboard portion of the inside wing's trailing edge down to keep the model from spiral diving in the turn.]]></description>

      <title>The Gadfly Mark I</title>

      <description><![CDATA[This is the original version of the Gadfly, and it is mostly made from 1/16&quot; by 3/32&quot; balsa stick wood, whereas the Gadfly Mk. III is the laser cut version.

This model can be built in 2 to 4 hours, and it uses the Sig Mfg 5.5&quot; prop assembly. This model is normally covered with preshrunk domestic tissue paper.

To save weight it can be covered with produce plastic bag material. Expect flight times of 45 to 75 seconds, although a lightweight version (5 grams) has done a little over 2 minutes.

This model is normally flown indoors; however, with a light spray of clear Krylon on a tissue covered model, it can be flown outdoors on calm days.]]></description>

      <title>Dick's R.O.G.</title>

      <description><![CDATA[One day at our monthly BEAMS indoor fun-fly session some 20 years ago, one of our club members, a guy by the name of Dick Brooks, showed up with a nice-looking, solid-sheet wood, R.O.G. (Rise Off Ground), rubber-powered model that looked very similar to the old timer Baby Buzzard featured in the February, 1940 issue of Air Trails magazine (go to the Outerzone website for the Baby Buzzard plan).

In lieu of using wire clips to attach the wing to the motor stick, as was the case with the Baby Buzzard, Dick’s R.O.G. model had the wing glued directly to the motor stick and clay ballast was added to the forward end of the motor stick to obtain the correct balance point. I decided to build my own version of Dick’s R.O.G. using a moveable pylon to eliminate the clay ballast.

A few years later, I found out that Dick had purchased his R.O.G. model from Dare Engineering and Design and that it was no longer in production. Several members of our club have built this model, and they all fly well, requiring a slight left rudder trim for a left circling model.

A 6” black prop assembly or 5.5” Sig red propeller assembly can be used in place of the aluminum bearing holder and 6” Peck silver propeller.]]></description>

      <title>The FP-11 Catapult Glider</title>

      <description><![CDATA[This is the flat plate wing version of the CG-11 handheld catapult launched glider. The wing is made from a 1/16&quot; by 3&quot; by 12&quot; sheet of light balsa wood.

If all the parts of this glider are already cut out and the wing dihedral joints already scored, it can be built by a beginner in under 2 hours.

Performance of this glider can be greatly improved by sanding a slight airfoil shape on the upper surface of the wing blank using 100 to 150 grit sand block and a flat particle board shelf or a 1/4&quot; thick glass shelf to sand the wing blank on.

The glider is launched using a 9&quot; loop of 1/4&quot; wide rubber on a hand-held 6&quot; long dowel. Despite having a crude flat-plate airfoil, it is quite capable of catching a thermal and flying O.O.S. (Out Of Sight).]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[This is a laser cut version of the Gadfly Mk. II. This model uses either the 6&quot; diameter black propeller assembly or the better-known SIG 5.5&quot; diameter red propeller assembly found on the Delta Dart and AMA Racer.

This model has a flat plate airfoiled wing and can be built in as little as 2 hours. It can be covered in pre-shrunk tissue paper or produce bag material.

Designed by Frank Ehling, the AMA Racer has to be one of the simplest stick and tissue rubber powered model airplanes of all time. When built light (under 6 grams), it is capable of 1 minute plus flight times. It can be built in 2 to 3 hours. You can substitute a 9&quot; long motor stick for the 7&quot; motor stick shown on the plan for longer flights.]]></description>
