Re installed Win 10 and downloaded nice fresh browsers .. = ? 
 I just don't know .

 I don't want to use W11 and Linux is not ready . ( Not for me - anyways )
So for now I am stuck on 10 .

No, don't go to W11, it is b****y awful.  Have to use it for work.  If you don't want to or can't move to Linux stay with W10.  MS have really ramped up their "It's not your machine it's ours." attitude and they seem to have removed all but the most basic of customisation of the UI to suit yourself.  Utterly dreadful

As for Linux. Assuming you don't use anything that will only run on Windows then these days it's as easy to use as anything from the Great Satan of Seattle.  It does have quirks but they're usually minor and easy to deal with.

If you can find a co-operative teenage spod to install it and do some of the basic setup for you I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.  I'd suggest the Mint distribution.  I've been using it for 5 or 6 years now on a 14 year old laptop without any serious problems.

For web browsing, word processing, photo manipulation, basic video processing etc there are free products that are as good as anything MS offers.

The only complete blockers for toy aeroplane use that I can think of are craft cutters (Cricut etc), Laser cutters and some CAD packages.  Cricut used to provide drivers for Linux, but from their move to subscription no longer, and all (almost all?) the laser cutters I've looked at so far seem to be Windows or Mac only.  Some of these can be persuaded to work from Windows emulators, but, for me, that's too much of a faff.

 Been running MINT virtually for about a decade now ..
I would love to install mint externally ( SSD ) , butt .  Unfortunately mint has instillation issues ( installing to external ssd ) . I love to run a virtual OS .. ( Mint ) .. And I would love to run Mint with W10 run virtually . Tried this about a year ago !  VB or virtual box has a retarded graphics memory limit off 512mb . To run windows reasonably well , takes at least 2GB if not 4GB . Otherwise it's LAG city ! Other issues with mint are Driver issues ( Running a 5060 - Cos it was on special ) . I run Win11 on External SSD's and I use Mint to RIP the trash out of it ( as I do with 10 ) .. The trick is keeping the rubbish off in the long term cos MicroSlop keeps putting it back .
