Originally designed as a CL trainer, the Phantom has been used as a racer both in England and Australia over many years.

The idea to race them has lately been resurrected in Oz with events on both sides of this wide continent.

After the originally chosen engine having some issues and real life concerns slowing completion, I have finally gotten my Phantom ready for its maiden flight. It has come out a little heavier than intended but once it gets airborne we'll see whether that is a major issue.

Fingers crossed for an improvement in the weather to allow the maiden flight tomorrow.

Nice build, really like the raw finish, Good Luck with your flights.

Has the Phantom flown yet Greg? What engine are you using.

I agree with Dave - it looks neat.

It's a lovely flying model, quite fast with the modern engine.

Sadly suffered a damaged tailplane during transport.
TP now replaced with a craft wood version that's been finished in ZP finishing resin. It a little heavier than balsa, but no problems since with the balsa it needed tail weight for cg reasons.

Well worth the effort then.

Hope it's back up flying Greg.

It is ready, but I'm grounded with shingles. 😢

My medical issues are now behind me, and I have swapped the engine to a glow version of the AP Hornet.
Yesterday's test flight shows promise although I've got to improve my physical movement. She was doing a consistent 25 seconds per 10 laps. Quite fast but there is more in it..... if I can keep up.

More later.

You'll get there Greg! Good to hear that pilot and model are in better shape.

Cheers
