Yes it is..
Something similar closer to your home, but further south.


The guys laughing and applauding are the people who fly at Faszination Modellbau exhibitions, Juergen Schoenle and his friends, used at large indoor RC planes, enjoying a simple rubber powered model going to the ceiling.
