Looks so nice!!! I really loved this model.

I already have the kit and still thinking of making it a Seaplane!

Definitely is on my "to do" list!

Flight Report #20  of  Tue May 26 2026

Pic #1    3037    Flight #1  flying low  12 seconds!
Pic #2    3038    Flight #1  landed.
Pic #3    3039    Flight #2  This would fly an upside  "U"  flight and land on the pitch.    BEST PIC!
Pic #4    3040    Rolls just on to the grass right beside my setup!

Five Flights

1  360 winds  8  sec perfect flight  long low flight at the end    one third of a circle flight.

2  360 winds  12 seconds  a full 360 flight  lands on the pitch by my setup,  and short roll off the side of the pitch into the grass.  I only had one 13 sec flight before.

3  360 winds  11 seconds  lands on the runway again, crosses the runway,  and stops pointing 180 deg the other way in the grass.

4  360 winds  6 sec  bad launch    went into a long left turn.

5  360  winds    9 seconds!  launched a little high but finishes out at the end of the pitch,  with a long low final flight where it actally gained height for a moment on that long low run.

I had heard a faint "ticking"  on the flight out.  When I put the plane in the stooge,  I noticed the broken strand.  It was getting too hot and gusty anyway,  so I went home.

I should have made a fresh motor.    The next flight report will be with a  new,  all out,  15"  motor of the same type.  Prop hook to rear peg is  10  inches.

Pic #1     3041     Walking up closer.
Pic #2     3042     Closeup of the final resting spot just off the pitch.   It landed really close to the edge to begin with.
Pic #3     3043     This is the next flight.  Turning left.  This was  11  seconds!
Pic #4     3044     It landed on the pitch,  and rolled off the far edge into the grass pointing  180 degrees.

Pic #2    3046    Closeup of landing looking the other way.  You can see my steps in the wet grass.
Pic #3    3047    Flight 4  bad launch  Flying left low.
Pic #4    3048    This is flight 5  nine seconds  it flew long and low on final and actually gained a little height (for the first time  :o  )  into the slight breeze,  on that long low run at the end.

Pic #4    3056    Wind at the flag at the park entrance,  on our way out.

I am going to make a  new 15"  motor now.  This was the  12"  motor.    The  12"  motor would turn out to be the best motor.  Prop hook to rear peg is 10".

Hi Spiros!  Sorry for blowing past your comment -  I had just loaded a big reply and clicked  'post' ...  and up popped this big warning and I lost all of my concentration,  and I just hit post.  :o  ???  :-\  So I am checking back now.

I originally wanted to make the seaplane version of the Beaver,  but the Dumas kit had no floats.  I would like to build a Beaver,  or any float plane,  that has three interchangeable undercarriages -  floats,  wheels,  and skis.  Maybe there is a plan some where for one?

Spiros,  if you are going to build the seaplane,  I have a Fleet Canuck float plane to build (partly started),  and maybe there would be interest in a floatplane cook-up.  They had a really good floatplane cookup on Stick n Tissue several years ago.  I have seen people fly float planes indoors,  and land them on the floor,  with no problem.

So,  thanks for your comments Spiros.  I did reinforce the landing gear and the wing struts junction,  that  interlock with the slot in the heavy duty landing gear fairings.  The  'wrap around'  elastic band,  with the small white paper clip on the bottom of the fuse,  used here, deserve mention.  It was 'unsightly',  but it held everything in place,  distributing all of the crash landing loads,  evenly into the strut and fuse and fairings and gear wire.    And the landing gear/wing strut connection  never broke (except once).    I also have a big area of sheeted/infill planked balsa,  on the fuse,  for finger grip tossing,  which worked great also.

Actually, the Dumas kit I have, does include the floaters. Not sure about the parts, but definitely, it does have the plans.

Still I have not worked on the kit due to other priorities, but I think it does.

Maybe a later edition? Could that be the case?

I'm into float planes, so we could definitely discuss it. Meet at IIFI or UK next year?... :)

Spiros,  maybe your kit was 24" for the Beaver.  I think Guillow's has a 24" Beaver,  but I am not sure about the floats.

I don't think I am going to any contests -  I live in the middle of the Great Lakes in North America,  Canadian side,  Windsor Ontario Canada ...

PS  post a pic of your plan with the Beaver floats ...   :-\
